See the stars of tomorrow this summer!

See thirteen of the world’s most promising young musicians take the stage this summer as they compete in the Cleveland International Piano Competition for Young Artists. For two weeks the contestants will play solo repertoire, in concert with chamber musicians, and take a public masterclass with Jean-Yves Thibaudet before playing a concerto with the Canton Symphony Orchestra.

Canton’s Monumental Fireworks celebration returns on Thursday, July 2, continuing one of Stark County's most cherished Independence Day traditions.

Gates open at 4 p.m., with food trucks and family-friendly activities available throughout the evening. Live entertainment begins at 5:30 p.m., leading up to a spectacular fireworks show at 9:40 p.m.

As part of this year's America 250 celebration, the Canton Symphony Orchestra will take the event stage for the first time in 20 years, performing a special patriotic and cinematic movie soundtrack that will make this year's event one you won't want to miss.

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy an unforgettable evening. Admission is free.

Featuring Jeans ‘n Classics

Experience the groundbreaking soundscapes of one of rock’s most iconic bands reimagined with full symphonic force. The Canton Symphony Orchestra welcomes back Jeans ’n Classics for An Evening of Pink Floyd—a genre-bending fusion of classic rock and orchestral power.

From the haunting strains of Wish You Were Here to the epic sweep of Comfortably Numb and the unmistakable pulse of Another Brick in the Wall, Pink Floyd’s music has shaped generations. Known for their atmospheric textures, philosophical lyrics, and genre-defying innovation, Pink Floyd created sonic worlds that continue to resonate decades later.

Guest conductor Edward Leonard leads the orchestra alongside the rock ensemble and vocalists of Jeans ’n Classics, whose arrangements honor the original spirit of the music while elevating it to new dimensions through live symphonic performance.

Whether you’re a lifelong fan or discovering Pink Floyd for the first time, this concert promises an unforgettable night of immersive sound, stunning musicianship, and timeless music—only at the Canton Symphony Orchestra.

This program is centered on how our environment can shape musical expression and Jean Sibelius’s Karelia Overture, begins our program with music that evokes a deep connection to land and people.

The CSO is proud to present the Ohio co-commission premiere of Meilina Tsui’s Floridian Symphony. The Canton Symphony Orchestra was selected by the League of American Orchestras’ Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation Orchestral Commissions Program to participate in this national consortium—an initiative designed to elevate the voices of women and nonbinary composers. Tsui’s work is a vibrant reflection on the natural and emotional terrain of Florida, exploring how identity and place shape one another in a constantly evolving world, making it a timely and resonant addition to this season’s conversation.

The evening culminates in Richard Strauss’s An Alpine Symphony, a monumental tone poem that portrays a full-day mountaineering expedition through the Alps—complete with sunrise, summit, storm, and descent. The CSO’s performance will be accompanied by original photo-choreography created in partnership with the Canton City Schools from community submissions, offering a visual narrative grounded in our own community’s relationship with nature, change, and resilience.
